Abstracted Elevation
East Meets West

June 2025 – September 2025

This exhibition presents two distinct interpretations of mountain landscapes through abstraction. Kan Shimada captures the icy, timeless beauty of Hokkaido’s mountains without specific landmarks, evoking a universal emotional experience. In contrast, Bob Nugent portrays mountains in Italy and New Hampshire scarred by human mining, exposing the environmental toll of resource extraction. Together, the works explore nature’s serenity and exploitation through abstract forms.

Enchanted Eyes

August 2024 – December 2024

This exhibition showcases the work of seven female artists, offering a unique perspective on nature through their enchanted eyes. Each artist uses different palette of colors, experiences to convey their personal vision of natural phenomena, blending abstract elements with vivid imagery. This collection invites viewers to experience the world through the diverse and vibrant interpretations of these talented female artists.

The Red Chair Project

April 2024 – July 2024

Started during the Covid pandemic, the Big Red Chair Project is a series of paintings created by South Bay Area figurative artist Eve Page Mathias as a way to reconnect with the women in her life. It was a way to bridge the time and distance that separated all of us during a difficult time. Through these paintings, this connection was reestablished and friendships strengthened, reminding us of the powerful and universal language of art.

Rising Imagery

February 2024 – April 2024

Weiliang Zhao, a Chinese artist currently based in the United States, experienced a pivotal moment in 1983 when the globally esteemed Frederic R. Weisman Art Foundation in Los Angeles acquired two of his artworks, creating a stir in Shanghai at that time. Miro Gallery is proud to collaborate with Silicon Valley Asian Art Center to present Mr. Zhao’s abstract artwork to the community.

Ink and Color Impression

November 2023 – February 2024

Ink and Color Impression features two artists – Liu Yong, Hou Beiren. The landscape ink and color paintings they created express their romantic interpretation of the world. We could see two completely different styles of ink painting, with black and white contrasting with color, complementing each other in this art exhibition.

Lawrence Ferlinghetti: Painter, Poet and Publisher

August 2023 – November 2023

The artworks in this exhibition showcase Ferlinghetti’s self-portraits as well as his take on other artists and some abstract landscapes. They highlight his bold brushstrokes and range of color palettes. 

Out of Place

May 2023 – August 2023

Out of Place features three artists – Batu Jogchid, Chen Wen, and Fong Chung-Ray. We could see their different styles of artworks inspired by their unique inside thinking and personal experiences. Come and enjoy this special abstract oil/acrylic painting in this summer. You will find out their stories from their arts.

Vital Resonance

This exhibition showcases the captivating ink paintings of artist Ren Ming, who explores the unpredictability of ink as a medium, transforming accidental effects into poetic inevitabilities. Blending Eastern and Western influences, his work redefines traditional ink art with vibrant colors and modern sensibilities. This exhibition invites viewers to uncover the endless possibilities within the ever-evolving world of ink.

My Memories of Old Beijing

December 2024 – March 2025

The painting exhibition My Memories of Old Beijing brings together the evocative works of four esteemed artists from Beijing: Wang Yuping, Zhao Zhunwang, Kao Yi-Feng and Yu Chung-Hsin. These masterpieces offer a glimpse into a Beijing where ancient and modern coexist, inviting viewers to reflect on the city’s enduring spirit and its deeply rooted stories. Through their unique artistic expressions, these painters transport us to the heart of Beijing’s rich cultural heritage, capturing the city’s timeless charm, vibrant streets, and cherished traditions. 

Jornada dos Sentidos

Jornada dos Sentidos (Journey of the Senses) features art by renowned Bay Area abstract artist, Bob Nugent. Nugent’s art, inspired by repeated visits to the Amazon rainforest, invites you to step inside and experience the sensations he encountered on his travels. You will find yourself immersed in another world – beautiful, bold, and exciting.

Colorfall

October 2022 – January 2023

Colorfall features two splashed-ink, abstract artists – Arthur Ku and Morgan Jeremy. We are pleased to see their artistic exploration and achievements in integrating different traditions and philosophies between the East and the West,. They open a whole new window for us.

Reconstructing Utopia

January – June 2022

Miro Gallery San Jose is pleased to announce its second exhibition, “Reconstructing Utopia”, featuring renowned Texas based artist, Tommy Fitzpatrick. The Stevenson Arts Foundation co-presents with Qualia and host an opening ceremony on Jan. 28.

Digital Art Gallery

Miro partnered with cFire to create and curate an illuminated digital art installation in the new Miro towers retail space featuring thought provoking artworks by local artists, including Zheng Chongbin, Michelle Grenier, Lynchini and Sapienza, and can be enjoyed evenings by anyone on City Hall Plaza.

Symphony of Brush & Ink
